November 7-9, 2014

(3 events at 3 different locations)

Friday, November 7th 7:30pm – 9pm

Public Talk: Buddhism in the Real World

When we think of Buddhism, we might call to mind images of Shakyamuni Buddha, sitting peacefully on a lotus flower, and wonder how the teachings of such a person might help us in the busy “real world” we inhabit. This program will describe how Buddhist teachings apply to everyday situations, including the workplace, the home, and the classroom.

LOCATION: The Church at 1220 2nd Street,  Santa Monica. Parking in structures on 2nd Street. Enter through church courtyard.

Suggested donation: $5

Please RSVP: Daniel 323.424.7894

Saturday, November 8th

12:00pm – 1:30pm, 2:00pm – 3:30pm

(two separate sessions may be attended individually)

Compassion in Daily Life

We all possess compassion, but sometimes it’s difficult to bring that compassion out in this modern world. This program will focus on quiet sitting meditation, compassion meditation and the mantra practice of Chenrezik, the bodhisattva of compassion. Through these three practices, we will find ways to actualize compassion in our daily lives.

LOCATION: Spirit Studio, 2601 Hyperion Avenue, LA 90027

(Enter at 3711 Evans Street. Behind Barbarella’s, street parking also available)

Suggested donation: $20

Please bring cushion if you have it.

Please RSVP: Terry 323.222.8269

Sunday, November 9th

10:00am – 12:00pm, 2:00pm – 4:00pm

(two separate sessions may be attended individually)

7 Points of Mind Training

We all treasure the ideals of love and compassion, but may feel we lack the “how” instructions. “The 7-Point Mind Training,” was written by Chekawa Yeshe Dorje and tells us how to develop mindfulness and compassion in a logical, easy step-by-step format. This program will include a transmission of the root text as well as instructions on quiet sitting meditation.

LOCATION: 5655 Bowesfield Street, LA 90016. Plenty of parking on Clyde Avenue. Suggested donation: $20 each session

Please RSVP: Daniel 323.424.7894
